Phillippena (Long) Denny, age 95, of Wolf Point, MT passed away Friday, November 20, 2009 at Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point.
Phillippena was born June 9, 1914 in Lohmiller, Roosevelt County, MT (near Oswego) to James L. and Mary (Knapp) Long. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Great Falls, MT and received her 2 year degree in Accounting from a Catholic college in Great Falls.
She married George Denny, Sr. on September 30, 1935 in Oswego and they raised their family, Betty Ann, Marcus, George Jr., and Melody Lou. George and Phillippena were married 51 years before George passed away in 1987.
Phillippena and George lived in Wyoming where Phillippena worked for BIA in Fort Washakie, WY for about 14 years as a Sr. Accountant and also taught Sunday School. After moving back to her childhood home she worked for Fort Peck BIA as an accountant for approximately 20 years.
Phillippena’s love was spending time with her family and raising three of her grandchildren.
Phillippena is preceded in death by her husband, George Sr., son George Jr. and daughter Betty Ann Donery.
She is survived by her son, Marcus (Donna) of Montana; daughter, Melody Lou (Art) Knapstead of Wyoming; and 9 grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009 with a Vigil Service 7:00 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Wolf Point. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wolf Point.
