Philmore “Mosey” White Hawk, age 68, of Poplar, MT went to be with his parents, sister and brothers in the heavens above on Monday, November 21, 2011 at his home in Poplar.
Philmore was born October 23, 1943 in Poplar to Benedict and Agnes (Jones) White Hawk.
Moses, to all who knew him, enjoyed attending powwows and was a well known grass dancer. Alongside his dancing partner the late Ralph Jones, Jr. kept the old style grass dance going. He loved to hunt and fish with his nephews Rob and Les, and live the old way in Riverside. He enjoyed spending time with all his nephews and his grandchildren who he loved to tease and laugh with.
He is survived by an adopted daughter, Jewel Merculiff of Poplar; if long time friend, Karen Jackson of Poplar; and his sister Ramona White Hawk of Colorado. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews throughout the states of Colorado, Wyoming and Montana whom he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by long time companion, Melda Gone; adopted son, Clifford Plainbull; sister, Birdie; brothers, Mervyn, Donavon, Allen, Doren and Benedict; cousin, John Bruce Smith; and nephew, Cheyenne. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We will miss you Uncle Mose always and forever.
A Vigil Service will be held Friday, November 25 at 7 p.m. and Funeral Liturgy will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 26 all at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Brockton, MT.
