Phoebe Ann Owens-Melbourne, our beloved wife, mother, daughter, niece, aunt, cousin, grandma, great grandma, and granddaughter went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Poplar Hospital in Poplar, MT.
Phoebe was born in Poplar on July 29, 1956 to Allison Lone Fight and Thomas “Turby” Melbourne. Phoebe attended school in Brockton, MT where she met the father of her oldest children, Patrick “Boy Boy” McKay, II. At age 15 she married Patrick in Wolf Point, MT. They later moved to San Francisco, CA for a couple years, and then later divorced. From this union, come two children, Patrick H. McKay, III, and Theresa Allison McKay. Phoebe also lived in Wyoming for a while where she obtained her GED and also worked at a soap factory. After all her traveling, she moved back to Montana in 1987, from then on she raised her granddaughter, Autumn, whom she took as her daughter. In 1989, she met and dated Keith Olson, from this union, Daniel Ray McKay was born. She later met and married Lawrence D. Hamilton, Sr. up until his death. From this union, came Lawrence D. Hamilton, Jr. Phoebe enjoyed going to church and listening to her gospel music. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Her love for her family never went unshown.
She loved spending time with her grandkids, and great grandkids, especially Kyle, Tristan, and baby, Shawn. A big part of her life was her son, Daniel Ray McKay, he was born with medical problems and she cared for him up until his death. They were inseparable. Later on, in her life she met the love of her life Denny C. Owens, Sr., whom she married of 17 years.
Phoebe is survived by her husband, Denny C. Owens, Sr.; sister, Theresa Sun Rhodes (Arthur) and family; sons, Lawrence D. Hamilton Jr. and Patrick H. McKay, III; daughters, Theresa A. Brown (Gordon) and Autumn Arthur (Thomas); grandkids, Elliott, LaVanchie, LaRae, Brenden, Larin, Walter, Nikolas, Cameron, Connor, and Melody; great-grandkids, Kyle, Trisitan, Shawn, Tefton, Kendall, Kallen, Kaylinn, and Wendell. Phoebe has too much family, too many to name. Please just know that she loved each and every one of you.
Phoebe is proceded in death by her dad, Thomas “Turby” Melbourne; her mom, Allison Lone Fight; brother, Gerald G. Melbourne; and son Daniel Ray McKay.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, February 1 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, February 2 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Riverside Catholic Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
