Ronald Wayne Dumont, 67, (aka Tio-Najin) of Wolf Point, Montana died Friday, December 11, 2015 in Billings Montana from complications of a stroke.
He was born to Gladys (Shields) and Vernon Dumont on December 29 th , 1948 in Poplar, Montana. Ron proudly served his country enlisting in the Army on October 10, 1967, where he completed 2 tours in Vietnam (3/26/68-10/23/69) and was honorably discharged on July 7, 1970.
He met Patricia in Missoula, Montana in the summer of 1974 and they were married in Poplar, Montana by the Reverend Simon Looking Elk In November 1974. To this union his daughter Dawn Michelle Dumont was born on May 28, 1975. They later divorced. He met and married Anita in 1979 and to this union three sons was born, Gabriel W. Dumont on June 13, 1980, Franklin V. Dumont on June 28, 1981 and Lonnie R. Dumont on July 10, 1986. They divorced in 1994.
Ron pursued his lifelong dream of becoming an elementary teacher, receiving his Bachelors of Arts Degree and Bachelors of Science degrees in December 2006. He continued on to achieve a Masters of Education Degree and upon completing 24 credits of graduate level courses he suffered a stroke and was unable to complete his masters.
Ron was a police officer of the Ft. Peck Tribes in 1974 and worked for TERO Ft. Peck Tribes 1992-1996. He was on the board of Commissioners 2010-2011.
Ron is survived by his 4 children, Dawn, Gabriel, Franklin and Lonnie; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are both his parents and a daughter.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point, MT. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
