Ronald Edward Grainger

January 20, 1945 — March 11, 2016

On March 11, 2016 our devoted brother, Ronnie passed away in Salt Lake City, UT.

Ronnie was born on January 20, 1945 in Tacoma, Washington to Marjorie “Tootie” and Leslie “Dutch” Grainger. He attended school in Poplar and Stephan Catholic School in South Dakota.

He joined the National Guard and from there he activated to serve our country in Vietnam. After an honorable discharge in 1968, he came home and was employed at various jobs throughout his life, with working at IHS and A & S Rural Development being his most memorable.

Ronnie was well known for his avid bow hunting and trapping.   He looked forward to his hunting trips with his hunting buddies.  He also enjoyed participating in pool leagues with his pool partners, where he was known as being able to shoot pool with the best of them.

He is survived by his sisters Marquieta (Tom) Colgan, Margie (Jeff) Stump, and Marilee Buckles; brother Morris (Eileen) Buckles; sister-in-law Trivian Grainger; adopted brothers Tom (Pud) Brown, William “Babes” Prichard, Manny Melbourne, Donnie Buckles, Floyd Azure, and Maynard Black Dog; nieces Denise and Dawn Grainger, Ann (Duta) Perry, Samantha (Loren) Stump, Davi (John) Bighans, Dana (Ford) Ryan, Dani Ryan, Jacey Chapman, Marissa, Mandee, and Mallory Buckles and Charlee Headdress; nephews David, Daniel, and Adam Grainger, Chuck (Tiffany) and Cody (Aerial) Weinberger,  Pat (Cherry) and Mike Colgan, Bill, Jim and Ceejay Black Dog and Cory Stump. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren he was proud of.

Preceding him in death were: his father Leslie “Dutch” Grainger; mother Marjorie “Tootie” Buckles; step father Dave “Shunks” Buckles; grandparents Charlie and Bonnie Renz; brothers Sandy and Buddy Grainger; Lynnie and Timmy Smith; sisters Bonnie “Chic” Weinberger and Mona Black Dog; uncle Sonny Renz; niece Amber Buckles; nephew Ryan Buckles; grandchildren Jay Grandchamp and Payton Weinberger.
