Rose was born on November 14, 1923 to Oscar T. and Borghild T. Peterson in Wheeler, Wisconsin. Rose was born again in the early 1980’s when she gave her life to Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She worked many jobs throughout her lifetime however, her favorite job was babysitting. Over the years, she babysat for more than 50 kids. She was loved by all who knew her; both young and old.
Rosie loved to quilt, crochet, and work in her yard, and was also known for her great skills as an artist. In addition, she loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, and friends.
She made her home in Poplar until 2003 when she moved to Sidney to an assisted living apartment.
In 2008 she moved (home) to the Poplar Swing Bed Unit. She resided there until her move into Heaven on July 22, 2014 at 7:27 a.m. She will be waiting for all of us to be reunited again.
She is survived by her sons Richard (Sylvia) Smejkal of Paradise, CA and John Q. (Feryl) Grainger of Helena. She is survived by her daughter Mary (Jim) Nesbit of Poplar, her sister Thelma Miller of Reno, NV, and sister-in-law Louise Smith of Poplar. Rosie is survived by seven grandchildren: Luke, John Daniel (Arin), Lainie, Michael (Natasha), Richard, Jeff (Janeanne), and Venaye. She is survived by 15 great grandchildren: Dane, Katelyn, Kenan, Jackson, Hannah, Javonne, Dasani, Vanessa, Ashley, Megan, Shannon, Alison, Willie, Little Joe, Crystal, and one on the way. She is survived by 7 great-great grandchildren and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Oscar, Helmer (Fats), and Byron, a sister Lucille Smejkal, and her husband Orval in 1989. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, David and Charles, her sister in laws Iva Trinder, Iris Smith, Taddy Grainger, Doretta Peterson, Arlene (Faye) Peterson, and Marion Peterson. She was preceded in death by brother in laws: Dutch Grainger, Buck Smith, Sol Grainger, Bill Miller, Lumer Smejkal, Ray Smith, and Mick Smith. Rose is preceded in death by her stepdaughter Iris Rollins and many other family members and dear friends.
Rosie will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Poplar. Celebration of Life services will follow at 6:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Thank you all for coming and for being a part of Rosie’s life. God Bless You All!
