Rose C. Miller-Lilley went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 6, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones.
Rose was born on September 16, 1930 to Isaac and Julia (Clancy) Miller at Lohmiller. She was given the name Holy Wing Woman by Dallas Fourstar.
She met a handsome Navy man named Joe Lilley, Sr. while working as a waitress and he swept her off her feet. Together they had ten children: Julie, Sandra, Elaine, Steven, Lois, Joe, Jr., Terri, Perry, and Stacey.
Mom loved the holidays and having her house decorated. She loved to be around her children and grandchildren no matter which holiday it was.
Mom started working for the Fort Peck Headstart in 1968 as a teacher’s aide. She took college classes and received her AA in Early Education and became a teacher. Mom loved all the little children she taught throughout her 46 years of teaching. She would say how they all made a place in her heart and it wasn’t Teacher Rosie but Grandma Rosie. She loved to cruise around, play bingo, and she couldn’t wait for August to roll around so she could go down to the Wadopana Grounds and get ready for the Pow-Wow. She loved to be down there and order her children and grandchildren around. Rose was a lifetime member of the United Dakota Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children: Julie Christian, Sandra (Rayvan) Redstone-Lilley, Elaine (Nick) Barrera, Steven (Rhonda) Lilley, Lois Black, Chicky (Dawn) Lilley of Ronan, MT, Terri Adams, Perry (Imogene) Lilley, and Stacey (Curtis) Foster-Lilley. She is survived by her brother Willard Miller whom she loved very much and Franklin Whitright Miller of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, Sr., her son Bradley Lilley, parents, her sister Mercyline Walking Eagle and Elsie Brugier, her brother Joe Miller, her grandson Tanner Black, and her niece Rose Walking Eagle.
Rose’s relatives include: the Clancy’s, Badhawks, Standings, Bearcubs, Two Eagles, Lowdogs, Gourneau’s, Follet, her sister in laws Patricia DeCoteau, Barbara Billman, and brother in law Melvin Lilley, Sr. all of Belcourt, North Dakota.
