Rose Marie Harden Welch age 63, of Great Falls, MT and formerly of Wolf Point, MT, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009 at her residence in Great Falls.
Rose was born on January 29, 1946 in Wolf Point to Robert F. and Beatrice E. (Brown) Welch.
She married Duane Harden and to this union three children were born: Earl, Sheila and Sherrie. They later divorced. He passed away.
She obtained her GED and then became an LPN. In the 60’s and early 70’s she worked at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point. Rose was an enrolled member of the Assiniboine Tribe of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation and spent 30 years in this community.
The other 33 years she spent in the Great Falls community. Rose enjoyed visiting with her many friends in the area. She enjoyed browsing and shopping at thrift shops and visiting with residents at the Rescue Mission. She enjoyed riding the Great Falls Transit Busses every chance she got. In the summer she would go to the park and feed the ducks and the geese. She had lots of knick knacks and each thing she collected had a reason and was valuable to her. Rose took pride in how she dressed. She was a very special person to her family and was loved by her brothers and sisters and all her relatives. Rose enjoyed it when her family stopped by to visit with her and talk about her children and home. She will be missed by her longtime companion, Gene, of Great Falls.
Rose is survived by her four children, son Barrett J. Welch of Great Falls, MT, son Anthony ‘Tony’ Harden of Great Falls, daughter Sheila Harden of California and daughter Sherrie Harden of Mississippi; five sisters, Edith (Garret) Bigleggins of Frazer, MT, Clara Welch and Carol Welch of Wolf Point, MT, Louise Welch Strickland and Roxanne Welch of Great Falls, and two brothers, Robert (Gloria) Welch and James (Cindy) Welch of Wolf Point, MT and several grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert and Beatrice Welch; a son, Earl Harden, one sister, Sarah Jane Welch and a brother, Dennis J. Welch Sr.
A Wake and Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Wolf Point Community Hall in Wolf Point, MT. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Wolf Point Community Hall in Wolf Point. Interment will follow at Chelsea Cemetery west of Poplar, MT.
