Rowene Joann Grele Dahl, age 78, of Wolf Point, MT passed away November 2, 2009 at her home on the family farm in Northern McCone County.
Rowene was born June 22, 1931 in McCabe, MT to Julius and Olga Grele. She was the oldest of four children. She grew up and attended schools between Alexander and Charbenneau, North Dakota, McCabe and graduated in 1949 from Wolf Point High School.
Rowene enjoyed a long career in the medical field. In 1948 she started out as a Nurse’s Aide at Trinity Hospital. In 1950 she took time off from work and married Albert John Dahl on September 19, 1950 in Culbertson, MT.
In 1951 Albert and Rowene started a family of three children: Marsha, Debi and Dennis. Rowene returned to work at Trinity Hospital in 1965 as a Nurse’s Aide. Rowene obtained her LPN License in 1970 and continued to work at Trinity Hospital. She later worked at Dr. Borge’s Office as an Office Nurse and then at Faith Lutheran Home. In 1996, at the age of 65, Rowene retired from Faith Lutheran Home.
From 1996 until the time of her death, Rowene lived on the family farm South of Wolf Point.
Rowene was a member of the First Lutheran Church and Prairie Elk Ladies Aide. She enjoyed her flower gardens, both real and silk, crocheting and embroidery. In her younger years she also enjoyed bowling on leagues in Wolf Point. But, most of all, if she didn’t answer the phone she was watching Judge Judy or Judge Joe Brown, and then you would get an ear full!!
Rowene is preceded in death by her husband, Albert, parents, Julius and Olga, brother, Sonny and sisters, Lou and Nyla.
Survivers include her daughters, Marsha (Marty) Steyer of Soldiers Grove, WI and Debi Jensen of Rock Creek, MT; son, Dennis (Karen) Dahl of Wolf Point; grandchildren, Darren Hanson of Soldiers Grove, Nick (Amanda) Hanson of Soldiers Grove, Wade (Cristina) Hansen of Billings, MT, Katie (Shane) Reed of Wolf Point, Rex (Codi) Jensen of Wolf Point; great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Trenton, Ky’ana, Emily, Brayden, Bailey, Sara, Caun, Samantha, Vaun, Kolten, Kasey and Jesse; and step-grandchildren, Kara, Mindy, Chrissy, Shane, Jason, Justin, Josh, Lindsay and their families.
Grandma, you will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm, Monday November 9, 2009 at First Lutheran Church, Wolf Point. Pastor Greg Holler Dinsmore will be officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Rowene’s memory to the First Lutheran Church.
