Russell Hollow Horn

April 4, 1963 — January 5, 2023

Our Heavenly Father sent his holy Angels to take our dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2023; where he was greeted in Heaven by many of our loved ones.

Russell John Hollow Horn was born on April 4, 1963, in Poplar, Montana to Stanley and Irene (Smith) Hollow Horn. He attended school in Poplar and later in 1996 he earned his GED in Pine Ridge, SD. He worked various jobs, which included ESCO, A&S Industries, nursing home in Chadron, NB, Tuba City School kitchen in AZ and Prairie Wind Casino in SD. In 2000, he moved back to Wounded Knee, SD to help his older brother Stanley in his ministry at the Church of God until he moved back to Poplar.

Russell was always a joy to have around, quick to laugh, kindhearted, caring and gentle, who is loved by all who knew him. He touched hearts and made many friends, wherever he went; and was also very talented at beading, he made many beautiful cross necklaces and key chains, which he gave away as gifts to family and friends. He loved listening to music, his cat Oreo and was always willing to give a helping hand wherever needed.

We will miss him greatly and he will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Preceding him in death; paternal grandparents Luis Hollow Horn and Mary (Bear eagle) Hollow Horn, maternal grandparents John Smith and Alice (lone Dog) Smith; parents Stanley Hollow Horn, Sr. and Irene (Smith) Hollow Horn; sisters Geraldine Barber, Sharon Hollow Horn; brothers Emerson Hollow Horn, Leonard Hollow Horn and Richard Hollow horn; nieces Gayle Hollow Horn and Corie Hollow Horn; nephew Richard Hollow Horn.

He is survived by brothers; Stanley (Sylvia) Hollow Horn of Wounded Knee, SD, Vernon (Carrie) Hollow Horn of Tuba, AZ, Arlie and Arlen Hollow Horn of Poplar, MT, Ronald Hollow Horn of Missoula, MT and John Hollow Horn of Bozeman, MT; sisters Clover (James) Buckles, Margaret (Gary) Bigleggins both of Poplar, MT, all of our Red Star and Hollow Horn relatives and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
