Sherald “Jerry” Galster

Sherald D. (Jerry) Galster, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, MT.
Jerry was the first of five children of Ewald and Vera (Pfennig) Galster. He was born September 3, 1947 in Beulah, ND. The family moved to Wolf Point, MT when Jerry was a sophomore in High School. He graduated from WPHS with the Class of ’66.

In 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Viet Nam. Jerry spent 2 years there.

Upon returning to Wolf Point, he worked for Farmer’s Union Lumber and Standard Oil Company before accepting a position with MDU in October of 1969. Jerry worked there for the next 18 years. Due to poor health, he retired when he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

He married Pam (Jensen) on April 23, 1971. They welcomed their son, Christopher Lynn in 1972. Two years later their daughter, Tamra Sue was born and the family was complete.

Jerry continued his military career by spending 18 years with the Montana National Guard. He was active in the WP Jaycees, holding the office of Treasurer. He spent 10 years serving his community as a member of the WPVFD.

Jerry was diagnosed with MS in 1986. This debilitating disease eventually led to his becoming a resident of Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, MT where he remained for 23 years.

Preceding him in death were his father, Ewald; his in-laws, Bea and Jerry Jensen; his brother-in-law Les Abraham and his sister-in-law, Jeri Ellen Jensen.

His loss is mourned by his mother Vera, and his sisters Sharon Abraham, Lavern Baker (Larry), Diane Kunda (Charlie), Kathleen Galster and their families.
Jerry will be greatly missed by his wife, Pam; his son, Chris (April) and granddaughters, Hope and Audrey of WA; his daughter, Tamra (Scott) and grandchildren, Kailen and Kody of ID.

A graveside service is planned for Sunday, July 14 at 1:00 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery. Following the inurnment, family and friends are invited to the Church of Christ at 121 Benton Street for lunch. The family looks forward to this time of sharing memories of Jerry.
