Shirlena Christine Youngman Rodriguez, passed away on July 8, 2016 in Seattle, Washington at Valley Medical Center.
Shirlena was born August 12, 1980 in Poplar, Montana to Roland Youngman and Jolene Fast Horse. Shirlena was the oldest of 4 girls to Jolene. Shirlena spent her younger years growing up in Wolf Point, Montana, where she attended school. She also attended school at Wahpeton Boarding School in North Dakota. Shirlena later moved to Seattle, Washington and was then married. To that union, Shirlena had 3 children.
Shirlena loved being with her 3 children. She liked to drive, taking many trips to the ocean. She loved to help and be at family functions and being with family. Shirlena always kept her faith in the Lord.
Shirlena is survived by her children, Rogelio “JR” Contreras Rodriguez, Rolando Contreras Rodriguez and Valeria Contreras Rodriguez all of Seattle; her sisters, Pamela Kirns of Billings, Alaina Byrd and Toni Fast Horse of Wagner, SD; mother, Jolene Fast Horse of Billings; uncle, Allan Fast Horse and children, Christian Demarrias and Madison Eder of Poplar; aunts, Patricia Youngman and children Lawrence Thomas and Lewis Youngman of Poplar, Elouise Youngman, Delores Youngman, Willma Youngman, Donna Youngman, and Isabelle Youngman all of Poplar; adopted sisters, Ronaleen Chute, Cheryl Bear Hill of Wolf Point, and Catherine Many Ribs of Seattle; cousin, Autumn Dupree of Seattle; longtime friends, Renee Babcock of Wolf Point and Tina Edwards of Seattle; her companion, John North Wind of Seattle; and many friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roland Youngman; paternal grandparents, Shirley Iron Bear Youngman and Lawrence Youngman; maternal grandparents, Christine Fast Horse and Timothy Reddoor; grandmother who raised her, Bridget Fast Horse; and adopted brother, Vincent Many Ribs.
Visitation will start at 7 p.m. Friday, July 15 at the Poplar Cultural Center. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Box Elder Cemetery in Poplar. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
