Sylvia Vivian Mickolio, age 87, of Laurel, Montana, formerly of Vida, MT, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior and her beloved husband, Pete on Sunday, November 2, 2008. She is finally at peace after suffering many years from Alzheimer’s.

Sylvia was born on August 1, 1921 to Carrie Elizabeth (Roberts) and George Loren Brooks in the Cow Creek area. The majority of her childhood and young adult life was spent on the family farm southwest of Vida.
Sylvia moved to Red Lodge in her late teens where she lived for several years and made close friends that she kept in touch with for as long as she was able. She later moved to Arizona for a brief spell and then came back to Montana where she lived for the rest of her life.

Sylvia fell in love with Pete Mickolio and after a short courtship they were married on March 30, 1959 in Circle, MT. They enjoyed 43 years together filled with love, family and friends. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Wolf Point and later the Vida Community Church. She had a very gentle and kind nature and she loved the Lord so very much. She enjoyed reading, her harmonica, crossword puzzles, birthday parties, visiting with friends, genealogy, and treasured family get-togethers.

Pete and Sylvia lived on the homestead on Sand Creek until 1976 when they moved to Vida and in the fall of 2000 moved to Glendive. Sylvia lived in Laurel at the Evergreen Nursing Home from June 2007 until she passed away.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; siblings Sidney and Edna Brooks and her parents.

Survivors include a brother, Charles S. Brooks of Tucson, AZ; son George Mickolio of Wibaux, MT and granddaughters, Serena and Charelle Mickolio of Havre, MT; daughter Katherine Manders (Mike) and grandchildren, Christin, Paul and Isaac all of Laurel; son Gene Mickolio (Julie) and grandsons Kameron and Kole of Bozeman; daughter PreElla Murphy (Jere) and grandchildren Jenay, Brook, and Hannah of Billings; and daughter Helen Anders (Scott) of Yorktown, VA.

Sylvia’s Family Will Receive Friends on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Her Funeral Service will be Friday, November 7, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. also at the Chapel. Interment will follow at Holy Eucharist Cemetery south of Vida, MT.
