Korean War Navy veteran Steven Peter Collins, 84, of Wolf Point, died of natural causes on September 3, 2012, at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.
He served onboard the aircraft carriers, The Boxer and USS Valley Forge.
Steve was a retired truck and heavy equipment operator for the BIA Road Department. Steve had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to leave people laughing. He loved to travel and work on old cars.
Steve was born May 27, 1928, in Chicago, Ill. Steve married Margie Crown and from that union a daughter, Gloria Ann, was born. They later divorced. Steve married Carol Wetsit and they later divorced. Steve married Janice Smith Hoover on April 2, 1982.
He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Collins, Sr.; mother, Alice Clark Collins; his brother, Larry Collins; and his sister, Herietta Schumacher.
Steve in survived by his wife, Janice Collins of Wolf Point; a daughter, Gloria Collins of Red Maza, AZ and granddaughter, JaNae Dawn Collins, of Los Angeles, CA; stepsons, David Smith of Bowman, ND and Leo Hoover of Wooster, Ohio; stepdaughter, Colleen Kirn of Poplar; a sister, Paulene Escarcega of Nashua; a brother, Jerry Collins of Glasgow; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Donna and Paul Abneman of Wolf Point; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, September 10 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wolf Point. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
