Susan Mary Moran, age 86 of Wolf Point, MT, passed away on May 16, 2018 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point, MT.
Susan was born April 12, 1932 to Veronica Azure Swain. She was a devout Catholic and married her beloved husband Sylvester Moran May 11, 1948, in Wolf Point, MT. They were married 61 years.
Susan was an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. She attended school in Belcourt and Stephan, South Dakota and left Belcourt at the age of 15. She worked as a waitress in Minot, North Dakota and did seasonal beet and potato picking in Montana and Wyoming with her mother Veronica. She moved to Wolf Point in 1946, where she spent 25 years as a waitress at the Sherman Inn, Wolf Point Cafe, Husky Cafe and Triangle Café. She was an accomplished Avon representative in Wolf Point for 25 years.
Some of Susan’s special interests were traveling, watching her boys and grandchildren wrestle, baking with the grandchildren, camping, and spending time with family and friends by hosting picnics and dinners. She enjoyed spending time with her cousins Rosie, John and Johnny Cake.
Susan is survived by sons Sylvester Moran Jr. (Cathy) of Bellingham, Wash., and Randy Moran and Stanley Moran Sr. (Janice) of Wolf Point, seven grandchildren; Tori Matejovsky of Wolf Point, MT, Janelle Moran of Blaine Wash., Marcus Moran of Bellingham, Wash., Philline Moran-Gorder of Poplar, MT, Melissa Ragels from Billings, MT, Stanley Moran Jr. and Bradley Moran from Wolf Point, MT.; fourteen great-grandchildren, Miranda Moran of Phoenix, AZ, Lane and Kolt Ragels from Billings, MT, Jazmin, Caydee, Cali and David Gorder of Poplar, MT, Siri Moran of Scobey, MT, Owen and Kellen Moran of Wolf Point, MT, Annaleigh, Cash and Addison Matejovsky of Wolf Point, MT and Clint Whitman of Blaine, Wash., two great-great grandchildren, Averee and Kinsley Moran of Phoenix, AZ. and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother Veronica Azure Swain, her sister Stella Azure, and her husband Sylvester Moran Sr.
A vigil service celebrating Susan’s life was held at 5 p.m. Sunday May 20, 2018 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. A Mass of Christian Burial took place at 10 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, followed by burial at the Greenwood Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
