Thalia Fern Buck Elk, 51, a longtime resident of Fort Kipp, Montana passed away early Sunday, morning on January 17 at Sidney Health Center in Sidney, Montana.
She was born on February 18, 1964 to the parents of Henry & Violet Buck Elk. Children Marissa Sayetsitty & Chris Scholten and family, JoAnna Sayetsitty & Thomas First and family, Jared & Tori Sayetsitty and Family. Siblings Rudoph “Rudy” Martell, Wendell “Chico” & Donette Martell, Mary & Verle Follete, Teresa Buck Elk & Keven Angel, Darryle Buck Elk, Yvette & Charles Olson, Janel Buck Elk and their families. Were there in her time of need.
Thalia is survived by her Grandparents Dominque & Roberta Martell and family. Also many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nephews, Nieces and Grandchildren from the Buck Elk Family, Mandan Family, Small Family, Shield Family, Fast Horse Family, Chopper Family, and Comes Last Family. Also extended family from Four Bear, First, Perrys, Martell, Boyds, Lamberts, Eders, Walking Eagle, Drums, White Eagle, Cantrell, Yanktons, Rattling Thunder, Shaws, Bets His Medicine, Bears, Comes Last, Pipes, Red Elks.
Thalia spent most of her time with family and friends. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren around her, and her dear brothers and sisters. She also had an active life for the outdoors, such as fishing and hunting with her Father. Being raised as Christian, she traveled to many camp meeting revivals with her family as young girl, and sang songs as a child at those revivals. She attended school at Brockton High School and graduated from Culbertson High School. She also further her education to attend the University of Montana.
Thalia had a strong heart, and soul. She always met every challenge head on and would never back down. She was a daughter, mother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend with a sincere smile, and laugh that would touch everyone’s heart. She shared her wisdom with her siblings, and passed on her teachings to her children, which will be treasured and carried in everyone’s heart forever.
She is preceded in death by her son Adam Black Dog, Grandparents Henry & Nancy Buck Elk, Frank & Lucelle Chopper. And many other dearly loved family members.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Friday, January 22 at the James Black Dog Center in Fort Kipp. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, January 23 at the James Black Dog Center in Fort Kipp. Interment will follow at the Fort Kipp Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
