Our beloved Theodore ”Teddy” Ricker, passed away on June 26, 2024. He was born on December 5, 1974, to Gloria Chopper and Harry Ricker.
Teddy played basketball and football for Poplar High School and graduated from Poplar in 1992. After high school, he made a career in firefighting, construction, mechanics, and concrete work. Teddy was known for his great sense of humor; he loved to tease and joke around, and he cherished every opportunity to laugh with his family and friends. His children were his pride and joy. He enjoyed watching his grandsons Quinn and Patton play basketball, fishing, picking turnips, cruising around, visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Marta Jones; mother, Gloria Chopper; adopted mom, Wyma Goes Head; children, Tiona & Theada Jones, Theodore Jr. Tyrus, Camryn, and Kolby Ricker, and step children Chandler Summers and Antoinette Wisespirit; grandchildren, Cambrie Schindler, Casey Schindler, Kevin Japheth Schindler; siblings, Harriet Cookie Ricker(New Mexico), Joyce Ricker (Oklahoma), Jacob and Michael Ricker (Oklahoma), Brenda(George) Eder, Roxann (Robert) Smith, Nicolle (Maurice Jr.) Bighorn, Carrie (Harold “Buddy”) Adams, Patrick Anderson; special aunts, Joyce Growing Thunder, Rose Morsette, Delilah Alfrey, Grace Wakan and Linda Parslow; special nieces, Patricia(Tracey) Eder, Georgie (Greg) Gourneau; nephews, Curtis Eder, Justin (Taylor) Grayhawk Jr., Isaiah and Mo Bighorn and niece Jessa, Curtis Buckles- Whitehawk and TC Molina, and Kevin Burshia Jr, Noah Flowers; cousins Cheryl, Sandy, Connie, and Dean Sutherland, Mary Nordwick and Judy (Stephen) Grayhawk, Robert Jr. (Bobby), Barney, Vicky, Debbie, Penny, Shannon Hopkins, Sam and Hank Buckles; mother-in-law, Vivian Jones; sisters-in-law, Earlene Ackerman, Deanna Jones, and Becky Bird; best friend, Joey Garcia. He was proceeded in death by brothers, Curtis Buckles Sr., and Kevin Burshia Sr.; sisters, Patricia Anderson, and Karen Buckles; grandparents, Thomas and Mary Buckles; step father, Abe Chopper; aunts, Pearl Hopkins, Louise Ell, Lorraine Reddog, Lorraine Stormy and Joan Reddog; uncles, Raymond Buckles, Darrell Reddog; cousins, Julie Hopkins, Camilla Francine, Frankie, Roger, and Conrad Buckles; nieces, Marlene Youpee and Sherry McClammy; nephews, Brian Chapman, Mark McClammy and numerous other family members.
Extended family: Walking Eagle, Ricker, Sutherland, Buckles, Wakan, Red Dogs, Hopkins, Morsette, Stormy, Growing Thunder and numerous other family members. We are sorry if we forgot to mention anyone, as he has a large family and loved you all.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Friday, July 5 at the Poplar Cultural Center. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Box Elder Cemetery outside of Poplar. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
