Teresa Lynn Olson, passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2013 in Minot, North Dakota of unknown causes. Teresa was 36 years old, born on December 27, 1976 to Margaret and Levi Olson. Teresa was given her Indian name Red Sky Woman by her grandmother Eva McKay of Sioux Valley, Manitoba, Canada. Teresa was born at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point, Montana and died at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.
Teresa was educated in Poplar Schools, Stone Child College and the Fort Peck Community College. Teresa Was a champion Indian Dancer, winning first place in the prestigious Bismark United Tribes Pow Wow in the 10 and under division, and the Teen Division. Teresa was also a champion cross country distance runner, winning first place in 5000 meters and 10,000 meters overall in the female division and placing second as overall female in the half marathon(13.1miles). Unfortunately she did not get the chance to compete in the 1991 state cross country championships in Helena, Montana. Teresa acted in the famed movie (Son of the Morning Star) and was one only two girls out of 2000(+) twelve and fourteen year old girls to be called to the final screening in Sheraton Hotel in Billings, Montana. Teresa did not get the part, but acted in parts of the movie.

A Vigil Service will be held Monday, September 9, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Vigil and serving of food will be held all night at the Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. also at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Poplar City Cemetery.
