Valerie Dee BlackDog, “Little Owl Woman” (Hinhen Cikana Win), was born on December 18, 1965 to Ronald H. Brown and Vina M. GreyBear.
She attended various schools in Montana, North Dakota, Idaho and Utah. In 1983 Valerie met the love of her life, Duane A. BlackDog, they had 2 daughters, Vina and Delaine. Val and Duane finally married in 2011.
Valerie was Valerie, she was something to someone, a wife, mother grandmother, sister, aunt…but all in all she was family. She was a loving person; she gave what she got.
When Valerie was on the go, she made sure she looked her best as she was taking care of the needs for her family. Listening to music, her husband Duane was the drummer for the “BlackDogs”. She has recordings of their music, she loved that “Old time Rock-N-Roll”.
Visits with Valerie serious at firs then came the laughter, she had a contagious laugh. We all to tell her a time or two to breathe Val, breathe. When things got too serious, she would do or say something to make us laugh. Valerie always ended her phone calls or her visits with “I Love You (guys)”.
Valerie joins her husband Duane A. BlackDog, as well as her parents, Ronald and Vina; maternal grandparents Abraham GreyBear and Lottie Old Rock; paternal grandparents Joseph Brown and Ruth Running Bear; brother Ronald W. Brown; sisters Vonnie R. Brown and Denise Longtree.
