Vera Mae Beauchamp

November 9, 1935 — January 19, 2025

Wolf Point

Our loving beautiful strong mother, grandmother, great grandmother and auntie started her journey on January 19, 2025 peacefully in her sleep.

Vera Mae Todd Beauchamp was born to Abner Todd and Elizabeth Blackdog in Wiota, MT on November 9, 1935. Mom was raised in Wiota on the family farm along with her siblings, Donald, Larry, Kenny, Kermit, Maynard, Palmer, Lyle, Douglas, Winona “Dodee” and Cathy Todd.

At a young age shew as taught how to care for the animals on the farm, feeding and watering the horses, cows, goats, ducks, and chickens. Also helping with the large garden and yearly haying. When she was younger, she couldn’t wait for school to get over so she could race home to saddle up her horse and go riding.

Mom attended school in the Wiota-Nashua area and Glasgow. Later on in life she met and married Roy Albert Beauchamp in Glasgow on November 1954.

She worked various jobs while living in Glasgow at the Glasgow dry cleaners and Buttreys bakery. All while their children, Albert “Chief”, Leroy, Abner, Elizabeth “Tonci”, Carolyn “Sue”, John and Wendy “Doy”. After Roy retired from GAFB as a heavy equipment operator the family moved to Wolf Point in 1978. Here mom found a job she loved and enjoyed at the Fort Peck Tribes Elder feeding site. After Nora Moran (lead cook) retired, Mom took on as head cook. A job she deeply loved and dedicated herself to, assisting and feeding the elderly. They commented daily on her delicious hearty meals. She retired in 1995 due to health reasons.

Mom enjoyed cooking, baking, painting, and going to Bingo and was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church. Although she endured family loss of her husband, two sons, and two daughters, along with her health declining and vision loss, she never gave up! Mom was a strong “True Fighter” all the way up to her last breath here on earth.

Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Roy, sons, Chief and John; daughter, Tonci and Doy; her parents, Abner and Elizabeth Todd; all her siblings except Kermit Todd and Cathy Todd; grandsons, Joseph “Joe” Bauer and Abner Beauchamp Jr.

Also survived by Leroy (Olivia) Beauchamp, Abner (Bessie) Beauchamp, Sue Bauer, and Sharon Blackwolf of Billings; her adopted son, Rick (Amy) Keller; her loving special grandchildren, Jessie, Josh (Karena), John (Thomasine) and Jake (Tiara) Bauer, Merissa Beauchamp, Beth (Tony) Beauchamp, Autum (Frank) Gun Shows, Anthony Beauchamp, and Aries Beauchamp, Patrick Beauchamp, Leroy Beauchamp Jr., Sue Castro, Wendy Beauchamp, Hunter Beauchamp; special great grandsons, Emtre Birdtail, Tayven and baby Josh Bauer; special great granddaughter, Coraline Vera Mae Bauer.
