Verine Hansen

Elsie “Verine” Hansen, 80, of Wolf Point, Montana passed away January 7, 2009 at the Faith Lutheran Home.

Verine was born on July 1, 1928 to Ray and Anna Long on the homestead south of Wolf Point. Verine attended Highland Country School through the eighth grade, and High School in Wolf Point.
In 1946 she met the love of her life, Neil Hansen at a country school dance. On September 16, 1946, they were married in Sidney, Montana. Neil and Verine built a house of lumber from the family saw mill South of Wolf Point, where they raised six children. Together Neil and Verine built a herd of registered Angus cattle. Verine was the family vet and tended to many newborn farm animals.

Verine was a devoted wife and mother. She loved gardening, canning, baking and crocheting. She especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband and family; as well as camping at Fort Peck Lake. Verine was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren and truly enjoyed spending time with all of them. Family barbeques were a particular favorite of hers.

After retirement, they enjoyed many winters in Arizona with family and friends. During her time in Arizona, Verine loved working in her yard and was very proud of her yellow rose bushes.

Verine is survived by; sons, Lyle Hansen , Russell Hansen (Linda) of Wolf Point, Marvin Hansen(Bobbi) of Belgrade, daughters, Phyllis Dowse (Stanley) of Wolf Point and Terry Lien (Jim) of Rapid City, South Dakota, sister Doris Hanks of Wolf Point, 18 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Neil, son Raymond, parents Ray and Anna, brothers, Bud, Shorty and Clarence, sisters Hazel and Jenice, three grandchildren, and one great grandson.

Cremation has taken place. Services will be held at the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Greg Holler-Dinsmore officiating. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
