Wallace Merle Runs Through, Sr., age 82, of Frazer, MT left his loved ones on May 14, 2009 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point, MT.
Wallace was born February 15, 1927 to the late Marion and Katie Runs Through in Wiota, Valley County, MT. Wallace had three brothers and three sisters. He attended school in Frazer. Wallace stayed with his Grandpa Joe Matthews and Grandma Mary Hammond and helped them with their farm until 1941. From their examples he learned to provide for other elderly people and families in need of food.
Wallace enlisted into three different Branches of Service: the Army from March of 1945 to February of 1947, and received three medals; World War II Victory, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, Army of Occupation (Japan) and was honorably discharged; he then enlisted in the Montana National Guard from November of 1947 to April of 1948 and was honorably discharged; the day after his discharge from the Guard he enlisted in the US Marine Corp and was discharged in October of 1948.
On May 3, 1952 in Glasgow, MT he married Ruby Mae Fourstar and they raised their family in Frazer. Wallace enjoyed trapping and hunting. He worked during the day and hunted evenings and weekends. He would skin, clean and cut up the deer and then pass it out to whoever needed it. He always provided for his family whether it be store bought or wild game. He taught his boys and grandsons to hunt with respect to the animals, land and landowners. He crafted toys out of wood for his children. He also raised abandoned baby birds and animals. He enjoyed hand games and pow-wows. He bailed hay, did farming and field work for several farmers in Frazer. He was a self-taught mechanic, plumber, electrician and carpenter. He worked at C&M Construction. With the help of Home Equity he was able to build his home from the foundation up. He helped build many houses in each town on the Fort Peck Reservation.
Wallace is survived by his wife, Ruby, of Wolf Point; his children, Marva Runs Through of Frazer, Kathryn (Sherman Sr.) Talks Different of Hays, MT, Marion (Millie) Runs Through of Poplar, MT, Debra (Sterling) Ramsey of Oswego, MT, Carol Foote of Wolf Point, Thomas Runs Through of Frazer, Brenda (Leonard) Hollow Horn of Wolf Point, Janet (Jake) Runs Through of New Town, ND, Janeen (Darrell) Firemoon Beston of Frazer and Wallace Runs Through, Jr. of Frazer.
Wallace loved and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and seeing his great-grandchildren: Jonathan (Grace, Jonathan, Jr. Teanna) Runs Through of FRAZER?; Sherman, Jr. (Tristen) Talks Different of HAYS?; Cecily (Ari, Jarom, Alex, Haidyn, Hunter) Raining Bird of POPLAR?; Jon (Gabriel, Otis) Ozlyn of POPLAR?; Logan (Logan, Halle, Louis, Austin, Noah) Iree of ; Irene Talks Different of ; Rocky ( ) Clark of ; Windy (Joseph, Fallon) Howard of ; Millie (River) Dean of ; Marion, Jr. Runs Through of ; Arthur, Quinten Devereaux of ; Thunderdrum ,Kiefer, Jr. ,Kira Foote of ___________________; Katie, Emberlee, Lakota, Kyleigh , Lillian and Bree Hollow Horn of ;Trevor (Myalya), Jonika, Lance (Kadence) Grandchamp of ; Brittani, Tyra Overton of ; Trenton, Shania, Rilee, Pamala Beston of .
Surviving brothers include: Floyd (Frances) Runs Through of Bedford, TX; Mason (the late Irene) Runs Through, Sr. and sister Silma Christiansen, all of Frazer.
Wallace is preceded in death by his parents; son, Arthur Evan Runs Through; brother, Louis Evan Runs Through; sister,s Isabelle Ackerman, Artis Holgren; granddaughter, Jolene Runs Through; grandparents, Joe Matthews and Mary Hammond.
A four day feast will begin Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the Oswego Community Hall. Evening Services will be at ______ p.m. Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wolf Point. Funeral Services will be at ______am/pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will follow at the Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Oswego.
